Accepting award at a gala hosted by the Greater Delray Chamber of Commerce Saturday night were Linda Bean and her Florida lobster restaurant manager, Frank Rea.
"This award is presented to businesses that have made significant investments to the area's economy throughout expansion of their business, significant job growth and/ or major renovation or restoration of the inside or outside of their physical building from May 2009 to May 2010."
Linda Bean's Perfect Maine opened its 90 seat lobster cafe with a Chamber ribbon cutting October 22 last fall. Nearly $1 million in sales have been achieved in the first 11 months to date under Rea's management.
The cafe is located on busy Atlantic Avenue in the so called "Pineapple Arts District".
Said Bean, whose famous grandfather retired to Florida in nearby Deerfield Beach many years before he died in 1967, "I think he would be pleased that our family has brought our great Maine lobster to such a fun place as Delray Beach. We and our fishermen have felt very welcomed here and made a part of the community. Frank has assembled a great staff that has developed a solid reputation here for friendly service with no waiting. I couldn't be more delighted than to receive for them, and for our building design team, this award." |
